How A Memory Blanket Got Started

Several years ago a lady in our small town died unexpectedly leaving small children, I read about an older gentleman who wanted to help the children remember their mom so he made a blanket for each of the kids using their favorite item of clothing of their mom. What a great idea, to think they could each have something that their mom once wore turned into a blanket that could help comfort them and help keep their mom’s memory alive. So I started making blankets with my boys’ clothes that they had outgrown. I had several family & friends that wanted to preserve their children’s clothing also. Then I had a friend lose a family member and had me make a blanket out of flannel shirts. She told me how much comfort it brought her, she said she would wrap the blanket around her & it felt like a hug from her loved one.
